The highly reflecting vega energy specular surfaces are a key component of
concentrating solar systems. They concentrate the solar radiation
precisely to achieve extreme energy densites. By using vega energy mirrors with
their outstanding reflecting properties the performance can be
increased significantly in concentrating parabolic systems
(CSP) for the generation of solar thermal electricity, or
process heat for industrial applications, air conditioning or sea
water desalination.
VEGA FLEX
vegaFLEX is a complete system for parabolic trough concentrators that combines the ultra-reflective vega energy
coating from the ALMECO Group with aluminum-reinforced composite plates.
The result is a complete mirror element that manufacturers of CSP plants can
quickly and easily install on support systems without any further ado.
The system keeps its shape extremely well because all of the components have the same thermal expansion coefficient.
In addition, vegaFLEX is extremely lightweight and robust, which lowers the installation and maintenance costs of
CSP plants considerably.
With a solar reflection rate exceeding 93%, ALMECO's mirror layer ensures that parabolic trough plants can make
optimal use of solar energy. As a result, the performance of CSP plants increases significantly.
At the same time, an innovative ceramic layer reliably protects the reflectors from rain, sand, and salt to keep
performance high; ALMECO guarantees that the degree of reflection will not drop by more than 3% in 10
years.
vegaFLEX gives manufacturers of CSP plants a lot of leeway in designing their systems.
The curvature and dimensions of the concentrators can be adjusted to fit the requirements of the specific
installation exactly, with troughs of up to 6.5 meters in width.
vegaFLEX is also excellent for small solar air-conditioning systems (used, for instance, in hotels and commercial
buildings) and for process heat (in the food industry and for solar-powered desalination systems, to take two
examples); its mirror elements can be manufactured even with a tiny curvature radius of ten centimeters.
